I teach some of the most spirited, joyful, motivated, and caring students you will ever come across; however, they also have some of the highest needs. They are not on a college path but instead will be joining Day programs and supported work environments. My students need hands-on, meaningful work experience they can relate to. They need consistent practice in environments that will prepare them for future job placements. I need to be able to offer them these experiences as they are turning 18, 19, 20, and 21 in my room. We have a small student-run cafe in our life skills room that we want to expand. We need a real cash register to practice money skills, cash register skills, and customer service, rather than a small lock box, which does not provide the same real-life cafe experience. We need supplies to continue our coffee and tea service in our cafe. We want to add a salad bar that staff will have access to for lunch service and need supplies such as to-go containers and utensils. All of this will help get these students working on a daily basis to run the cafe by preparing and delivery staff lunches. Please consider helping these amazing students get the hands-on experience they thrive on by supplying them with the materials they need to run the School Cafe'!
