The mats will allow students to engage in the mindfulness practice appropriately. Although we have been using the floor without a mat, a mat defines a child's space. The mat will allow for students to feel connected to the mindfulness process and help them stay focused during the practice. Most students have not experienced mindfulness or using a yoga mat and the mats will allow them to feel important and proud. The mindfulness practice is important but feeling important is also key when experiencing the challenges of childhood. When mindfulness is used correctly it will change the lives of those who practice.
