In the poverty stricken neighborhood that Chalmers is in it’s essential that we engage our students in the most positive ways that we can. I believe that keeping students engaged in sports is a great way to provide structure to their lives as well as build connections and social skills all while having fun. Our volleyball team was very excited this season and did well, however lacked proper safety gear and could not put their all in to the game. Our basketball program has grown so large, having 4 teams ranging from grades 5th-8th it has become difficult to practice and teach without enough basketballs. A minimum of 5 per team is need to practice things like dribbling and speed drills.
