The materials that have been requested are items that will be used in daily lessons. The markers and dry erase materials will be placed on each student's desk so students will be able to solve problems, answer questions and show their thinking on their individual dry-erase circle. This adds excitement, and will allow me to spot check student work while keeping with social distancing guidelines. The interactive math tools will help students build on their foundational skills and fluency while exploring higher level concepts. The math games will be used to build solid number sense, confidence in their math abilities, and will be used as a stepping stone for higher level math work. The sight word games, laminating pouches, dry erase pouches and chart paper will be used throughout English Language Arts lessons. Students will be able to participate in differentiated lessons using individual materials. The requested books teach lessons about kindness, as well as dealing with the anxiety and uncertainty of what back to school will look like and the feelings that students have around the pandemic. These read aloud books will help facilitate class discussions, encourage students to feel comfortable in our class community, and create a diverse environment. With these basic classroom materials, we will be able to start the year in beautifully decorated room that will give students a welcoming environment to learn.
