The impact that technology has on students in today’s world is imperative. This global integration of technology has completely changed how teachers teach and students learn. Teachers are learning how to teach with emerging technologies (tablets, iPads, Smart Boards, digital cameras, computers), while students are using advanced technology to shape how they learn. Tablets are the new textbooks! My students have grown up in unfortunate circumstances where they do not have or is limited to technology access at home. Sometimes school is the be-all and end-all of learning for students. By embracing and integrating technology in the classroom, I will be setting my students up for a successful life outside of school. Education isn’t just about memorizing facts and vocabulary words, it’s about solving complex problems and being able to collaborate with others. Providing our students with technology will help them connect media to learning throughout all subjects. Technology also helps them retain as well as gather information better. These iPads will allow my students to engage in learning while using apps like iStation measures student growth and also allows them to participate in literacy activities. These iPads will be an amazing resource to use all year!
