My project will allow more students the opportunity to use technology for digital learning every day, multiple times a day instead of just a few times a week. These new devices will enable my students greater time to participate in research and projects, and will provide my students with the opportunity to digitally publish their written masterpieces in a way that will allow family members and others to view their finished products, no matter where they live. Through the use of the iPads, and cooperative work space in the classroom my students will be able to create projects using Google Drive, Classroom, PowerPoint, participate in literature discussions, and create digital book reviews. My students will be able to use these devices to take pictures and videos that they will add to their projects. They can also use a variety of learning apps during our literacy center time, and small group interventions. These apps will help with areas of phonemic skills, comprehension, vocabulary, and reading fluency. The development of these skills is important for growing the love of reading. If our classroom had more devices, then I would be able to allow my students the opportunity to become 21st-century learners. We would love to have access to more technology in our classroom. In essence, more meaningful and lasting learning will take place. My students need access to technology in order to ensure current, relevant, and engaging learning to take place.
