I am creating a lending library (whether in the classroom or for remote learning) for my 6th graders of important and relevant middle grade contemporary fiction - focusing on Black authors featuring Black protagonists. I will start the year with this recommended reading list for students to utilize with my Units of Study Reading Workshop curriculum. I want kids to fall in love with books that are engaging, meaningful, and relevant to the lives they are living right now. These books will introduce students to the great writers of their generation, the writers who are writing for them and inspiring this generation to rise up!

About my class
