As a first year teacher, I am excited and passionate about the success of my students. My students are sweet, eager, kindergarten children who come from a high poverty area. The most basic supplies are not always available to them. No child should have to experience this kind of deficit. Something as simple as organizers for the students desk will help them by making sure all their supplies are in one place. The books will be sent home weekly so the students will have access to books they can read on their levels. Books are not something most of these children have accessibility to. School should be a place they can come and not worry if they will have "enough". As I said before, I am a first year teacher who, like my students have been in a place where there wasn't "enough". I need everything from books to office supplies. Giving my students books to take home is essential.
