This year, one of my focuses as a teacher has been to develop my students' lifelong interest in reading. At the beginning of last year, we filled out a survey reflecting on our "reader identity." All year, we gave each other book recommendations and carved time out of our busy days for quiet and independent reading. My 7th grade students love this time, all to themselves, to escape into a book of their choosing. Many of my students have worked their way through my class library, and they are craving more books and sequels to books they've already read. They've all identified their favorite genres and have exhausted my books in those sections. That's why I decided to do this project. My students helped me decide which titles to request for this project, so these titles are sure to find instant homes in the hearts and minds of my 7th graders.
