Our students are nothing short of exceptional. They seek entry to the most competitive colleges and are brimming with aspirations for their futures. However, the realities of attending a public school in an urban setting are sobering. Our collective carrot is the classroom climate we create and the shared notion that each student has something worthwhile to contribute. We believe in the concept of inquiry-based learning and are driven to develop mathematical autonomy in all students. Ours is a classroom where rather than struggle to find real-world math applications, we ask how math relationships can help refine and sharpen our perspectives on our realities. Our students represent every walk of life, every culture and every faith but are similar in that they demand the absolute best from one another and certainly from their teachers.
