Reading takes you places, enhances imagination and I believe, improves the quality of life. My children struggle with literacy skills, and I am putting in an order for 12 amazon Kindle Fires which students will be able to use to read books independently and enhance their literacy skills. Giving children access and the ability to pick out which books they would like to read given their interests and hobbies, their reading levels, and age and grade level appropriateness is very important. I am a special education teacher teaching intermediate resource, grades 3-5. My students struggle with reading comprehension, reading fluency and vocabulary. Putting these Kindle Fire books in their hands will help open their world, and imagination up to reading, and hopefully light a fire for the love of reading that they will carry throughout their life. They will be able to listen to audio books, and also read and pick new titles as needed! Giving my children access to millions of books will change their lives for the better and enhance their overall literacy skills.
