Many of my students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds and do not have knowledge of or access to financial planning resources. They need exposure and training in this area to give them another tool in their personal finance tool belt that will improve their chances of becoming successful, financially stable adults. Learning by doing is a relevant and appropriate avenue to financial literacy; giving my students the opportunity to participate in The Stock Market Game could give them the confidence to participate in this arena as adults. Learning from experiences that are driven by their own decisions will be particularly powerful.

About my class
