The lab tables and stools will help my students conduct science experiments and participate in collaborative activities with space to work. Currently, the desks in most classrooms are too small for high school age students. The desks are also very hard to work on anything other than a textbook or worksheet packet. This tells students that is all they will ever be able to do in class. My classroom is a place of warmth and collaboration! I expect my students to be able to work together as part of the "life skills" they will need when entering the workforce. The lab stations will also allow my students the chance to work on science experiments like the general education classroom teachers. My special education students often feel that they are treated unequally and not given the same opportunities as the other "kids." Please help me ensure that my students no longer feel like an afterthought! My students need lessons that include different ways of learning. Collaborating, creating visuals, and hands-on are some of the most successful ways my students learn. In order to be able to give them those opportunities, the tables are necessary for continued success. Thank you for your consideration.
