All of my students want to learn but have a hard time showing what they know. Why you ask? My students are mostly school-dependent. They depend on us for food, safety, shelter, and socialization. School supplies are not a necessity when it comes to whether there is food on the table. School supplies like pencils are in a high demand in my classroom. Often times I have students come to me each day needing to borrow a pencil. Last year alone I supplied my students with over 1,000 pencils that I had bought at the beginning of the year. It is the half way through the school year and we are already running low. I have 50 students in total and have to make copies for them weekly, which requires a lot of paper. I want to continue to inspire my students and provide them with the best education and tools they need but I need the supplies to do that.
