As a Special Education teacher in a low-income school district, I work with many students of differing abilities. My students experience many challenges, ranging from developmental disorders to attention deficit disorder to learning disabilities. Every student has different ways to meet our curriculum and learn the content at hand. Students will use different tools in our classroom to help themselves get regulated and stay regulated. These tools include bumpy cushions, wobble stools, and sensory tools. My students are always on the go and this can interfere with their learning. If their bodies can move while their attention is focused, they can learn the concepts at hand to be on grade level.
