Thanks to these donations my students will create a S.T.E.A.M project. Interaction with geometry- hands on materials, will allow them to better understand the relationship between 2D and 3D shapes as well as their attributes. I will use the Thermal Laminator Machine to laminate real life buildings pictures so my two classes, (A.M and P.M), could reuse and exchange them to trace shapes they might find on them. They will use washable markers for this activity. Later, they will use 2D shapes to design a symmetrical building. Finally, they will build their design using hardwood blocks. Together, we’ll have a class discussion to see if the tallest building is the strongest one and why. These donations will contribute to the understanding of geometry as the foundation of architectural design and will also allow my students to show creativity by creating their own design and 3D project. Students will interact with shapes using their creativity. They will identify shapes on pictures, draw and build structures using blocks simulating the real world and their projects will be exposed on our school exhibits.
