My students need footballs and pinnies of various colors for our PE program. My students will be part of a PE program that involves playing team sports. I believe that through team sports, students have the opportunities to put "character training" into practice--in real life situations. Students will be able to learn skills for each sport, and play on a team. (For many of them, this will be their first experience being a part of a team.) Having new footballs and pinnies will make the games more authentic. When students are given higher expectations, they generally respond. When I "up my game," it implicitly tells each of my students that I take school seriously. If I place an emphasis on physical education, my students will know that having high character and sportsmanship is important, and being equipped with the knowledge that living an active, healthy life can be life-changing.
