My students are in high school and when they get to us, many of them are 3-4 grade levels below the expected reading level and yet they are assigned to read novels above their reading level. To support these students ability to read the required classroom novels, they need access to e readers and audio books. The public library offers many books on audio but they are sometimes not accessible on our older laptops . E readers enable the students to access these books with audio and highlighting. My students have mild to moderate learning differences, yet are considered main streamed and are mostly accessing the curriculum with their General education peers. They deserve to be able to listen and read modern books with accommodations such as audio to help them comprehend and keep up with everyone else.
