Every student journalist should know how to utilize an industry standard camera to take pictures. It is an important skill that every student journalist must have in order to pursue a career as a photojournalist after high school. As they matriculate in the journalism program having professional grade equipment to work with is paramount. Not only will this help to ensure students are taking amazing photos it will also solidify their photo editing techniques because the quality of the photos they will be able to produce will greatly increase. Photography is a lucrative and fast growing field of journalism that if given the opportunity more inner city students would participate. It has been said the best way to keep someone out of history is to simply not write about them or photograph them- we seek to be protectors of history by photographing the students who are enrolled here and telling their stories so that their experiences last forever.
