When you use, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) you are applying the psychological principles of learning theory in a systematic way to positively alter a student's negative behaviors. ABA is the only scientifically validated therapy recognized to help students with Autism reach their fullest potential. An example of ABA in action looks something like this: 1.) Give Instruction (to the student) 2.) Wait for Student Response (3 - 5 seconds) 3.) Provide Feedback (i.e. highly desired item) In order to use ABA effectively within my classroom I must have access to items that each individual student finds motivating at that moment.
