Dinosaurs, Knights, the Revolutionary War, and Space Travel: Where can you learn about all of these exciting subjects? Why BOOK CLUBS of course! I want these book sets for my students to read at home with their parents, grandparents, aunts, cousins or older siblings. My school is a Title I School with Literacy as our focus. I try to provide books for independent reading, but families do not have the funds to provide books for their children. Our school does take regular trips to the public library. The Magic Treehouse Series takes students on adventures and places they have not experienced. I have a set at school, but would like for all of us to work on the same book. The knowledge they gain helps them learn history and other culturally relevant nonfiction information in fictional books. Many of these students have not been exposed to many of the subjects covered by these sets. We will read it at school, they and their parents can read it at home. I would like to have a Book Club Night to introduce each new book. We will invite our families to talk about the book and participate in related activities. We MUST put books in the hands of our children and their families!
