We are a school of Peace Leaders. We work to better our world and ourselves by offering help, finding trusted guides, and striving to improve. The UNICEF Kid Power program fits nicely into our ongoing program. The UNICEF Kid Power bands encourage students to become more active which, in turn, helps to save the lives of malnourished children in other parts of the world. Young students need to learn about the needs of other children in the world, and how they can help. Our school can be an isolated community. I believe it is important for my students to become global citizens and learn about ways they can reach out and help others less fortunate than they. I have been a part of this program for the past 2 years. My students love it! In fact, the younger ones look forward to becoming a part of the Kid Power program in my class. In addition to the Power bands, there are lessons included where students learn about other cultures and how the UNICEF organization is helping children around the globe.
