Do you remember the smell of a real book that you got from the library when you were younger? The excitement of leafing through the pages and looking at the pictures. My students are missing out on that experience when they visit my classroom. I teach second through fifth grade reading intervention classes and often times we are reading books that have been printed off a subscription website that my school has. It works but my students want REAL books. They want to look and feel like their peers. They don't want one more thing that sets them apart from everyone else. This project will allow me to put real books in their hands, that are at their level! They will get to look and feel like their peers. Read a favorite over and over, enjoy colored pictures and be able to share with friends what they've read.More than 75% of my students live in poverty. Most of my students’ parents ask for books to be sent home because they don't have any. Like it says in the title, this will change their lives and their outlook on reading.
