In addition to reading intervention during the day, I would like to start an after-school book club for 6/7th graders. This book club will be primarily for students who I service that are 2 or more years below grade-level in reading. To do this, I need our first book club novel as well as snacks for the students to eat. This book club will allow students to access and discuss contemporary novels. This will be an opportunity for students to explore reading outside of a traditional classroom. Many of the students I work with do not enjoy reading and do not read outside of school. This club will be a chance to read and have conversations around high-interest novels.
