The Battle of the Books is a yearly competition to encourage reading among 7th and 8th grade students. Students read and analyze multiple titles in preparation for a citywide competition in which they must answer questions about the books, the characters, and the overall plot. The competition encourages students to read for comprehension and analysis, skills that are essential for higher level learning. If funded, this project would allow us to purchase the books needed for the team to compete in the Battle of the Books, which not only improves their reading, but has been a source of great pride for our students and our school.

About my class
