As a teacher that puts equity at the center, I have been changing classroom configuration to make most of the classroom space available for my students. One of the biggest challenges is that I have no adequate space to store my students' backpacks. I share my classroom with an Afterschool program. I have a closet, but the space is used for afterschool program's materials and supplies. I tried keeping my students' backpacks on their chairs, but it resulted in students tripping over the straps, losing their belongings, water spilled, and lunchbags on the floor. Now, we use the closet floor to store their backpacks, lunchboxes, jackets, and it is NOT working! I often find students arguing with each other about double parking of their backpacks. My students need a place to keep their backpacks safely! It is a big challenge to find a place where my students can safely keep their backpacks while utilizing the rest of classroom space for learning. I want to teach my students to be responsible citizens, and I believe it starts with taking care of their belongings. Please help my students have an organized classroom. This mobile backpack rack will help us do just that!
