Students can learn so much more with a technological device than they can learn from a teacher in the classroom. Being able to have an online connection to the world gives them opportunities that are endless. Our school has Chromebooks, but they are commonly being used by others, and take a lot of extra time and energy to check them out and get students logged onto them--time we could be using for learning instead. These particular Chromebooks are the most inexpensive I can find online. Having just five Chromebooks in the classroom would allow us to have a technological center, allowing for so many learning opportunities. This would be a place where students can visit daily to do any number of tasks--quickly define a vocabulary word, research a topic they want to know more about from the book they are reading, practice several skills such as keyboarding, math concepts, practicing state and country locations, or create Google docs, spreadsheets, and slideshows--to demonstrate their learning in different ways.
