My students are amazing kids ... every one of them ... they LOVE coming to Art and I love having them. I feel like I am VERY lucky to get to do what I do. We have a special board in my classroom where if the kids create a special piece of Art outside of Art class I will put it up on the board for them ... they are SO proud when their Artwork goes up ... it encourages them to create more on their own ... and the critical thinking and problem solving skills involved in creating and executing Art on their own is off the charts ... it makes me SO proud of them! I want so much for them ... last year I donated an entire set of Nancy Drew books to our school library ... my favorite books as a kid and I want MY students to love them as much as I did ... imagine a school library not having all those books that so deeply inspired me ... those books inspired me to be who I am ... a curious, critical thinking Art teacher ... how could I not want that for all my students as well?
