This will give students the tools that we need to enhance learning during culinary class after school. Students get excited when they are researching, budgeting and measuring for ongoing skill based projects. We incorporate many math, science and reading skills while enjoying the “fruits” of our labor. The proper tools needed are stock pot, frying pan, sauce pan, cookie sheet, muffin pan and silicone grips. Right now we are using items that have been borrowed from teacher’s kitchens and I currently have 22 students in this after school culinary experience. We need larger and newer items to insure recipes can be properly and safely excited. These items help students to prepare for futures working in restaurants and using food science to make healthy and nutritious project learning within an industrial kitchen. The math skills that students learn can be applied to many aspects of their lives. Life skills such as shopping, budgeting and using local fruit and vegetables get students ready for careers in agriculture, accounting, and sciences requiring critical thinking skills. Please help me find this project for my class!
