The materials listed enhance sensory deficits and provide ways to teach mindfulness and coping skills through play. The journals provided will be utilized in journaling groups to help foster self reflective practices, boost self esteem, and teach students how to utilize a journal for their overall mental well being. The workbooks will be utilized between myself and my school counselor and would assist us in leading small groups with students. Our school's counseling team wants to provide the best interventions possible for our students this upcoming school year and by helping our project, we will be able to move toward that goal! Research shows that teaching coping strategies improves self regulation and self control, builds confidence, and encourages positive ways to express emotions.
