Providing a great library of books in my own classroom has always been a goal of mine as a teacher. Today, more so than ever, it is extremely important to provide opportunities for my students to have access to good books. Students will have the opportunity to check out books from the classroom and practice their love of reading on a daily basis with books they choose from the library in the classroom. Providing a print-rich environment is essential for students, especially during a pandemic when so many of our resources are closed off. My students don't have access to check out books from the library with concerns of germs spreading. If the opportunity presents itself, providing these books will offer students books within the classroom cohort to check out and use for their own reading enjoyment. Students will learn the value of taking care of books, as well as returning them in a timely manner. After students return books, the books will be set aside for a quarantine period and then returned to the shelves to be enjoyed by other classroom readers.
