I hope to use these ukuleles year after year in our Title one school to help our 4th graders transition into band, orchestra, and choir. I hope to give them a skill very few could afford to learn otherwise. After years of primarily singing in music class, I think it would mean the world to them to hold their very first instrument in their hands and to be given the tools to play it. More than half of our students come from a culture other than white American, and yet, many of the things we teach them stem primarily from that culture. I hope this project with open the door to further catering not only to the Islander culture of music playing, but to many other cultures as well. Please help me to give them this opportunity!
