My students are in school from 7:15 AM to around 4:00 PM. This is an extended school day which most first grade students do not have. In fact, the majority of my students wake up around 6 in the morning and do not get home until after 5 in the afternoon. Although my students get free breakfast and lunch, it is not enough to sustain them the whole day. It is absolutely vital that I give my students a snack during the day so that they can continue learning and doing their best work. When my students are hungry, it is impossible for them to learn anything new, making it a loss of educational time. Not only do my students need snacks during the day, but I have many students who ask to bring home snacks after school. This is something I want to be able to do. Please help me give my students the tools they need to succeed in school!
