Now the kids feel like they belong at the table and aren't rushing to try and claim a space. It's such a wonderful opportunity for my students to work together and for me to teach a small group!\r\nWe are looking forward to using the label maker to get our math manipulatives organized. The pencils and whiteboard markers allow every student to show their work and complete their work without worrying about sharing supplies. They are getting used to taking turns using it. They really enjoy using the apps that are there to help them improve their reading and writing skills. They are using it to listen to the sounds that the letters make and then practice making those sounds. Then they are blending the sounds back together to make a word. Because it is on the ipad, they think it is a game and do not even realize that we are working on practicing their sounds. I have 2 students in particular who have really taken to using the ipad and ask to use it as soon as they enter the classroom in the morning. I let each of them have a turn with it. It is a way for them to get extra practice with their letter sounds.\r\n\r\nThis technology makes it easier for me to see how much progress they are making. It is much easier to give them their assessments using the ipad. They don't even realize that I am doing an assessment, they think we are still playing a game which has resulted in improvements in their test scores. I am hopeful that this continues until the end of the year.\r\n\r\nI am so grateful for this technology. It is already making a difference in how successful my students are. I cannot wait to see how much more successful they can be as we finish the year.","fullyFundedDate":1743437902285,"projectUrl":"project/an-apple-for-the-classroom-technology-n/9142838/","projectTitle":"An Apple for the Classroom: Technology Need for First Graders!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Cassidy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9025044_orig.jpg?crop=2725,2725,x684,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1683545709328","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9025044"},{"teacherId":8791622,"projectId":9001234,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for donating to our classroom! I introduced the social-emotion books first. The students seemed excited when they saw the colorful illustrations and engaging stories. We read through a book about recognizing and naming different emotions, like happiness, frustration, and fear. Afterward, I invited the students to create their own \"Emotion Faces\" using the craft supplies – paper plates, markers, and stickers.\r\n\r\nThey really dove into the activity! Some kids made big, expressive faces while others carefully decorated theirs with bright colors. One student shared that their \"happy face\" was drawn with the brightest yellow they could find, while another used a deep blue for their \"sad face.\"\r\n\r\nAs they worked on their projects, I introduced the calming strategy bin. I showed them how to use the sensory tools like stress balls, breathing exercises, and calming jars when they felt upset or needed a break. The kids were really interested in the items and started using them to calm themselves after our activities.\r\n\r\nStudent Reactions:\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, they were really excited! Their eyes lit up as they picked up the new books and craft supplies. I think having these resources made them feel that their emotions and well-being were being taken seriously. One student even asked, \"Are we going to do this every day?\" which told me that they were looking forward to more of these activities.\r\n\r\nOverall, it was a great way to connect, teach emotional intelligence, and create a calming, supportive classroom environment.","fullyFundedDate":1722541629772,"projectUrl":"project/picture-books-to-boost-social-and-emotio/8513472/","projectTitle":"Picture Books To Boost Social and Emotional Learning Skills","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Castro","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8385054_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1660959983445","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8385054"},{"teacherId":8791622,"projectId":8954024,"letterContent":"My students were so excited when the boxes arrived!
