As a Title I school many of our students don't have the financial means to visit college campuses their junior and senior years to make an informed decision regarding their future. Virtual Reality Goggles will allow students to visually experience prospective campuses they are interested in applying to and attending. The Virtual Reality Goggles will also allow teachers to teach their students about the world outside the campus and beyond, to visualize mathematics, to take virtual field trips, to take trips back in history, and assist English Language Learners to visualize the material being taught in the classroom
As a high school Teacher Librarian and an English Teacher, I have seen first hand the struggles of students to visualize places they are learning about in History or English Language Arts. For example, while teaching the novel "Night" I wanted my students to immerse themselves into the time period and the surroundings. With Virtual Reality Goggles, students could travel back in time to Auschwitz and see the conditions the prisoners were forced to endure. Science and math teachers could also check the goggles out from the library to help their students take a tour of the human brain or to visualize shapes.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, but you will also ultimately help to increase their academic achievement. Your donation will impact the lives of every student on our campus and help them become 21st Century Learners.
