Many of my students love to play soccer and will kick the ball around any chance that they get. They are very competitive although they don't always have the resources and equipment that they need to participate in some sports. Soccer is one of the few team sports offered in our area, and many of our students love to participate and would benefit greatly from additional practice on their own school playground. Playing soccer gets active many of my students who would otherwise not participate in any activity during their recess time. Our playground has had inexpensive soccer goals in the past that didn't last long or was blown over by the wind and destroyed. Some students even play without goals at all because they just love the game that much. Coming from a high poverty area with few financial resources should not prevent these students from actively participating in a sport they love.
