Reading is one of the most important skills a person can learn. I believe the key to reading success is finding books that interest a person. My classroom library is filled with a variety of books. The students are allowed to check those books out and take them home to read. It is very costly and difficult to continually add to my library. That is why this project is so important. It not only supports reading in the classroom and home, but it is also a way for my students to come together and represent our school in a reading competition.
Getting these new books into the hands of students who do not have financial means to purchase them is the key to them becoming better readers while supporting our school reading program. Students will be able to take these books home to read and share with their families. From book tastings, to presentations, to book talks, putting the books into the hands of the students will allow all students to experience these wonderful titles.
