Music is a part of each and every one of my classes. It is a part of me as a language teacher. It brings me joy to introduce my students to the newest Spanish singers, interpret their songs and sing together. When we explore grammar and vocabulary, it is seen through a "fun" lens vs. that of learning. It is a subtle segue to bilingualism that allows us a sneak peak into the cultural world simultaneously. A karaoke machine will enhance our musical experience. It will allow them to have the lyrics on the screen, play the instrumental music and test our their Spanish vocal cords! We would use the karaoke machine to produce beautiful Spanish music. My students already love to sing! This would add excitement, deeper lyrical understanding and creativity to immerse them. Music is a powerful tool! I would be honored to "step-up" our musical talent and further engage my students with such a powerful additional element.
