Learning to participate and be part of a social group, as opposed to working individually, is the main goal of 1st grade. In our classroom, students will constantly sit in the floor to work with partners as they read, write and develop their creativeness. Our lovely rug which has been with us for 12 long years has the spots of every single possible drink, food or artistic activity. Floor cushions and stools will provide students with fun and comfortable place to sit. These are also easy to disinfect which is a plus in our fight against the spreading of the Coronavirus in the classroom. The use of dry erase paddles will help encourage student participation and increase productiveness during class surveys and knowledge demonstrations. Students will use them to write, draw and share their thoughts with their partners and the whole class. Students have so much to say, and the story-telling paper will be a great way for them to display their thinking as they learn to write. A Scotch thermal laminator will help protect and showcase student’s work. I will also allow classroom materials to be laminated for more durability and effective sanitation. Lastly, we are always in need of Kleenex tissues to ensure the safety and cleanliness of everyone. We appreciate any help to stay healthy.
