A laptop can be a very versatile tool in the classroom. In an instant, you can dissect a cell, tour the Pyramids of Giza, and learn how divide using partial quotients. Having a set of laptops in my classroom will allow me have versatility in the classroom and better meet the needs of my curious students. Laptops in the classroom will allow me to have daily small group math instruction, science learning lab stations, and collaborative learning projects. My school uses a math program that is rich in technology. All materials are available online with additional support to practice at their own level. I also teach science to all of our 5th grade students. Having laptops in the classroom would mean that I can set up learning lab stations where students can explore science subjects using technology. They can also use the laptops to extend their learning and create collaborative projects. Having a class set of laptops would give me the opportunity to combine the capabilities of new technologies with solid teaching fundamentals. It will allow me to increase engagement and participation.
