My classroom is already set up to personalize it with pictures of each of the students having fun learning during engaging lessons or activities. I have lots of color, anchor charts and positive affirmations. I teach multi-sensory lessons to grab their attention and encourage growth. This year I would like to do something very innovative! Flexible Seating! There are several reasons why. I want my students to feel special. They already struggle with reading. I want this to be inviting and interesting. Students can feel empowered by choosing a seat to learn. Also, movement is a big factor. Students lose focus sitting still for too long. A little movement increases oxygen and blood flow to the brain for optimal learning and retaining skills. It's also exercise for the body as well as the brain. This is very helpful in getting my ADHD and ADD students to focus their attention on the tasks at hand. Learning should be fun, too! What’s more fun than sitting in a flexible seat? And finally, this unique seating encourages students to work more cooperatively together. Each student will get an opportunity to sit in each chair, or carpet square and other areas in our classroom. It will really be amazing to see them grow even more in their confidence and success. Thank you for your consideration. Your donation will be a blessing to these precious children and our classroom! Since I will have poetry slams and book club events too, as well as tutorials and peer assisted learning, this will also serve many children even outside my own classroom students for years to come!
