My kindergarten classroom is in need of a round rug for us to gather as a group. We will use this space throughout the day for morning meetings, whole group literacy and math instruction, story time, singing, and playing games together. The rug will also be a perfect place to host small groups and learning centers. A circle is an important shape because each person can be seen, heard, and included as a member of the community. The small circles will help the kids define their own personal space and place within the group in a flexible and convenient way.
