The majority of my students come from underprivileged, unsafe neighborhoods in center city. Many of them cannot afford books, supplies, and other required materials. Many also qualify for free or reduced lunch due to their economic position. Their real-life experiences are so utterly gut-wrenching and terrifying that I have trouble understanding how they have had the strength to persevere to where they are today. Even with all of the pain, heartbreak, and obstacles my students have faced in their young lives, they have made it safely to high school...and are looking forward to furthering their education with college degrees. They are sweet, polite, proper, and deserving of a "gift" from those who care to donate. Help my students get the most from their education as they prepare for college!
