As a Physics teacher in a Boston Public School with an emphasis on the sciences, I try to make the content we learn as relevant and hands-on as I can. I find that my students learn best (and appreciate their learning) when they can build, play, and end up with something they've never really seen before: a classroom-made camera and an image that came from it... a light bulb that has lit in a circuit they built themselves... a container that actually can protect an egg from a 4 story drop. I find that I teach best when I know my students- what their interests are and where they are in their levels of understanding. Because of this, my professional goals center around being able to collect and analyze data from my students and apply that data to reach them.
