Currently, my kiddos do not have a place inside the classroom to store and/or access their belongings throughout the day. Building independence in my young students is not only important to me but their families as well. Having the coat lockers in my classroom will allow the kiddos to access their belongings throughout the day and provides many opportunities for them to take responsibility of their items by cleaning up and placing items in their backpacks. Creating as many opportunities as possible allows each child to work towards, gain, and build on their independence. I am excited to not only teach my students academics and social skills but how to be responsible children! Because I am a first-year teacher and my teaching position was recently added to my school district, I am without many important items in the classroom for organization and storage. One of these items is the literature organizer; each child is assigned a slot to place their folder and daily work in. It is my hope to teach the kiddos where their​ spot is and to place their folder in the organizer as a part of their morning routine-something they will do throughout their educational journey.
