My music room is in the center of Woodville Elementary. Woodville was built in 1954 and at the time was regarded as a music specialty school. Unfortunately, the school has drifted away from that title, but I am convinced it will surpass the acclamations given in it's Hay-day with my determination and our present administrative teams support. Present day, 2018, I am in my second year teaching Woodville's 457 students music and directing a select 4th and 5th grade chorus. Our school is currently unaccredited and receives Title 1 resources and Free-Lunch accommodations. Our students file in from the three major government housing projects in Richmond City. They enter into a dated building adorned with student art work and community murals. My music room is painted with color and filled with ambient light. The students love movement games and drumming, so I maintain an open layout for them to move and play freely.
