Hands-on labs and engineering challenges allow students to deepen their understanding of the new NGSS core and enables my students to explore science concepts through various learning opportunities. All supplies will go towards funding materials for science labs and and engineering challenges. The lab supplies will help with my students' understanding of chemistry and allow them to explore chemical changes and reactions by tie dying shirts they get to keep and making observations and inferences using acid and base tests. We will also learn about earthquakes and complete an engineering challenge of how to create structures that can withstand the effects of earthquakes. We will also use whiteboards to making our thinking visible and communicate our findings from our labs and engineering challenges. The headphones and styluses help my students fully utilize our class set of iPads for virtual labs, assignments, and projects.
