Do not go gentle into that good night! My students are the strongest most fierce kids I've ever known . They aren't just thinking about their futures. they are fighting just to have one outside their hospital rooms . These junior high and high school kids aren't worrying about what brand of sneakers to buy; nor do they concern themselves with what filters to use for their selfies on Snapchat . While their peers are thinking about who to ask to prom or what to wear for homecoming , my warrior students are hooked to iv drips listening to doctors discuss treatment options while being poked and prodded . When I walk in to teach them , it is the most "normal" part of their day . Instead of feeling cheated out of regular childhood , these kids feel grateful for every day they have . They appreciate learning and value their education because it gives them hope and inspires them to continue fighting.
