As service providers, we try to find the best way to make the most out of our limited resources! By using our color printer, laminating sheets and velcro we will be able to create vibrant and engaging materials that will be able to be used and reused both in and outside of the therapy room. The population I work with consists of students with varying disabilities, many with communication disorders. Ultimately our goal is to provide our students with a means of communication in order to access the world around them, BEYOND the walls of the classroom. The ink will be used in a shared space between myself (the bilingual SLP) and three other related service providers (OT, SLP and PT) in order to create materials to increase our students' ability to communicate and participate in their therapies, in the classroom, and at home. Color ink for our printer, laminating sheets and velcro will help facilitate improved communication between home and school by providing families with low-tech communication and/or visual behavior techniques that are being implemented at school.
