These stands and tuners will help us to build a practice and performance ready environment! New to our program, we have a collection of ukuleles that the 4th and 5th graders at our school will learn to play this year. Their excitement for this instrument comes from having worked hard for several years to write music collaboratively using a guitar. The ukulele is meeting the desire students have to not only play an instrument, but to have the means to write and compose on their own! These students need music stands to use for practice and anticipated performances, and tuners so that students can further develop their listening skills. At present, we have no stands and three tuners to share during class. Now that we have the instruments to play, we are putting together the remaining pieces and needs to have a stable program that will give students the opportunity to perform, develop a practice partnerships with peers, write music individually and collaboratively, and, perhaps most importantly, discover the joy of learning how to play an instrument.
